Processing Aid

When PVC resin is processed into PVC products, many additives need to be added during the processing, such as heat stabilizers, lubricants, processing aids, impact modifiers, pigments and fillers.

Processing aids can imporve the processing performance of PVC resin. They have three main actions of promoting resin melting, modifying melt rheology and imparting lubrication. Commonly used processing aids are ACRs, which are copolymers of methyl methacrylate. There are also oligomers of methyl styrene, butadiene and acrylonitrile copolymers, etc.

Processing aids must be added into rigid PVC products to improve the processing performance of the material, while flexible PVC  products can be added without or with less.
